In August 2015, Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport introduced The Wall. The Wall was installed to not only to protect the WINGSPAN construction renovations, but also to interact with travelers. The Wall became the voice for any construction updates as a guest blogger. Originally filled with speech clouds introducing itself, The Wall was later equipped with touch-screen monitors, bringing a whole new meaning to the age-old saying, “if walls could talk.”
Travelers could also interact with The Wall over social media. The Wall often encouraged pictures, as The Wall wrote in a September 2015 blog post, “And feel free to take pictures with me (I simply adore having my photograph taken). If you’re feeling extra generous and would like to share your pictures on social media, be sure to use the hashtag #WINGSPAN and #TheWall.”
While we will fondly remember all of the good times GSP and our travelers shared with The Wall, we know that with its recent demolition came great progress towards the completion of WINGSPAN.
When WINGSPAN began in July 2012, a gallery of photo renderings and a walkthrough video was created. Scroll through the galleries and photos of The Wall. Let us know how you think the updates compare to the updates by commenting below!
And never forget, our good friend The Wall.
